01 / ABOUT ME

Hi there,
I’m Joe W. Thompson, a writer and director who's spent almost 20 years building brands and telling stories that don't just look good, they resonate.

ABOUT ME —ABOUT ME

For most of that time I was co-founder and Creative Director at Southend Productions, working with brands like Coca-Cola, Chick-fil-A, The Home Depot, Southwest Airlines, Orkin, and Georgia Power (among many others) to make commercial and branded work that’s actually meaningful, not just polished content built to disappear into a feed.

Directing is only half of it though. I've spent just as much time leading production teams, managing vendor relationships, and creatively stewarding client budgets, keeping the work ambitious without losing control of the numbers. Protecting a budget and protecting a vision aren't different jobs to me, they're the same job.

Alongside the commercial work, I've been developing my own slate of scripted projects, including a number of thriller/horror features and series, because at the end of the day I'm a storyteller first, and the client work and the personal work both come from the same place.

Right now I'm open to what's next, whether that's directing, creative leadership, or both.
